Disclaimer: By posting this interview I am in no way endorsing any of the authors work but rather simply giving a forum so that we as readers can get to know them and the authors can promote their stories.
DLC: I'd like to welcome and introduce everyone to author S.A. Carlyle. As always let's start out with introductions. Please share a bit about yourself.

Stephen: I am Stephen A. Carlyle. I live in Ireland and am single. I have a degree in Financial Management, but have always been keenly interested in all things scientific, especially biology, astronomy, and geology. Another keen interest is history and archeology. Unfortunately, minimal university spaces were available, so I studied Finance.

DLC: I love the internet just for this reason. You get to meet such fascinating people from all around the world. =) Stephen, your book has a really interesting title. What's it about?

Stephen: I've passively studied my areas of interest since I was young and took copious notes of what I researched. My book is the compilation and summarization of those notes. The Nature In Humanity examines the origins of humanity that began with the "Big Bang" that contained all the substance of the universe, including our sun and solar system, and the components that eventually would lead to life existing on earth. My book takes us through that journey and where along the path humanity is placed within it. I think of it as showing appreciation to all the species who preceded us and what we owe them for our own existence. I have made a large effort to keep things non-technical in language and found there is always a simple way of explaining things. I want to inform readers instead of instructing them.

DLC: Sounds like a lot of passion went into your book. What led you to become a writer?

Stephen: I think I always wanted to be one. I guess I was like everyone else; it was a matter of finding the time and putting in the effort finally to get it done. Fortunately, I had most of the material prepared, so it went well enough. I don't think I would have done it without my computer though. Made things much easier.

DLC: LOL I understand what you mean by being thankful for the computer. I made a comment on the internet one day stating my home computer was down and I wasn't able to write. I received a reply asking why I couldn't pick up a pencil and paper to write. =) OK back to the questions. What advice would you give advice to other authors or aspiring authors?

Stephen: First of all have your notes and outlines in very good order before starting. Know what you want to write and how you want to write it. Check to make sure you are up-to-date on things as you go along and attempt to keep research to a minimum once you start writing. At least 95% of what you want to write about should be readily at hand.

DLC: Great advice! You mentioned outlines and research prior to writing. What source or sources do you draw from when writing your book?

Stephen:Personally it was my life-long interests. It seemed to me that every scientific discipline goes in their own direction and I wanted to come out with a more complete view of how they all fit together for a specific purpose. In my case that was the hows and whys for the existence of humanity.

DLC: The age old questions...why am I here and what's my purpose? We all ask these questions throughout our lives, so it's a good subject to write on. What was your greatest challenge when wrriting your current story?

Stephen: Finding the time to get it done. Between work and social activities it took a while. Then the huge challenge was getting published. I finally decided to self-publish.

DLC: In today's publishing world more and more people are going the route of self-publishing. What factors did you use to tell you your manuscript was done and it was time to get published?

Stephen: I organized my notes into specific sections or topics. When I reached the last topic I knew my manuscript was completed.

DLC: I think I already know the answer to the next question. Why did you choose natural sciences as a genre?

Stephen: Because it has always been of interest to me. Also, with things like climate change and global warming, I think other people are getting to know about what is occurring and would lfind this genre interesting. It's not much of a stretch for people who are interested in current situations to be interested in how they may have occurred in the past in relation to the present and future.

DLC: I find most authors are avid readers. Do You have any favorite authors?

Stephen: Plenty. Arthur C. Clarke, Stephen Hawking, Stephen King, John Grissom, to name just a few.

DLC: Are you working on a book now and if so tell us a little bit about it?

Stephen: I've started a new book dealing with politics. It is an examination of the development of democracy and its applications on governments and their citizens today.

DLC: Fascinating. I find this next question gives great insight into the authors life. If you were stranded on a deserted island and could pick only 2 books to have with you, what would they be and why?

Stephen: I guess it would be the last two volumes of Edward Gibbon's The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire. That covers a very dynamic time in human history that still has effects on all Europe today.

DLC: Now that's a great topic and an interesting time in history. There seems to be many factors for the fall of Rome but my personal feeling is that the Germanic tribes that were integrated into the military and society was the major contributor. We'll save that discussion for another time. =) Greek and Roman World class was a lot of fun in college. hehehe

Please tell us where we can go find out more about your book.

Stephen: I self-published with Lulu. The link is: www.lulu.com/browser, then search for The Nature In Humanity. I have hardcover, paperback, and e-book editions.

DLC: Stephen, I want to thank you so much for coming today and doing this interview with me. I wish you great success.

Blessings,
Daniel L Carter
